04 Deville Base Overheating Cadillac Owners Forum "04 base deville with 220k and needing a plenum. car was fine until yesterday when i came in off the highway and the digital gauge redlined to the top and the stop engine warning came on. was able to get the car home in camel mode and replaced the thermostat, water pump drive belt, and the tensioner assembly. car still redline overheats. Suggest checking your purge line for flow. the purge line is the small diameter hose, running between the top of the surge tank, and the hollow bolt nipple on the water pump cover. to check it for flow: with the engine off and cool, remove the surge tank cap. disconnect the purge line from the surge tank, and place it in the cap opening.
