2004 Hemi Overheating Dodge Durango Forum 04 durango 5.7 hemi overheating. i recently purchased a 1 owner durango (4 x 2) with a tow package. it had issues with overheating, especially when idling. i ended up having to replace the engine after it threw a rod. new water pump, thermostat was part of the new build. Remove the radiator cap, put the heater on full, and idle it. it also helps to run the rpms up to 1.5 2k several times during this process to help the air move up and out. the coolant level will drop as the air escapes. keep topping it off until temp is normal, and no more bubble or dropping. don.
