Trying to get a new hose to seal on the corroded and pitted heater pipe ends can be a frustrating ordeal. we also have the pipe (#5) that goes between the timing cover and the lower radiator hose, in stainless steel. these get corroded at both hose sides and also develop small pinhole seeps at the inner part of the extreme bend, for some reason. These are the most neglected cooling hoses on your truck. they carry the coolant to the throttle body and to the idle air control valve under your intake. since they are “out of sight, out of mind” they generally get ignored. age and mileage make the hoses swollen, spongy and worn. don’t ignore them, it’s part of your cooling system.
