Mini Cooper S R53 Overheating Finally Fixed Cooling Fan Change And Radiator Leak
Mini Cooper S R53 Overheating Finally Fixed Cooling Fan Change And In this week video we have my own car again 🙂 a mini cooper s r53 overheating finally fixed , it was a day that i knew it was coming because in the previous. Then disconnecting the main radiator hose (stuff an old towel all around the area where you're disconnecting, to soak up the coolant, and make sure you raise the hose up as quickly as possible to minimise the loss). tilt the radiator forwards, then unclip the fan housing and lift it out.
Mini Cooper R53 Overheating Because A Ps Pump Fan Youtube So this has been an ongoing problem for a fair few months now when my r53 is idling (parked up, in traffic etc.) the coolant temp is reaching 120 constantly. sometimes it'll drop down to normal temps once moving, but often it'll only drop to about 115 and then rise again. water pump has been replaced. thermostat & gasket replaced, and today. Just a quick note, make sure you're using bmw mini coolant or zerex g 05 mixed with distilled water. other coolants will leave precipitates (bad chunks) in the cooling system and clog the heater core, radiator, and engine water passages. the mini coolant is about $20 a jug, and zerex g 05 can be found for $15. 2006 mini r53 cooper s overheating. it's also worth looking into the engine fan resistor. they commonly fail and cause the car to not have a low speed fan. in turn the high speed fan turns on to late and the car over heats and blows the coolant when sitting still. i had this issue, the common solution is to splice in an aftermarket resistor. It’s a simple mod first find a r56 fan motor, to save them money i use a good motor with blades that the resistor is blown then i take it drill new holes and attach it to the stock r53 fan shroud. the r56 fan motor is bigger and more powerful =more cfm. the flow is higher and very noticeable difference specially with front mounted intercooler.

Unplug the cooling fan. with the new fan removed, reverse the instructions to install the new fan. top off the cooling system at the radiator and overflow tank. loosen the bleed screw at the upper radiator hose and start the engine with the heat on max high. close the bleed screw once coolant exits through it. Usually the fan will only run when the vehicle is stationary or at low speeds, when airflow across the radiator needs to be increased. mini r53 models utilize an electronic cooling fan integrated into the cooling fan shroud. when repairs are needed, the cooling fan and shroud are replaced as a unit.
