Correct routing: run the trans bottom pressure line to the bottom fitting of the radiator. the top line exiting the rad should be routed to the bottom line of the external cooler, read it stops (aeration), then route the coolers top return line back to the trans top inlet. basically bottom to bottom and top to top in theory.

Th400 Cooler Lines Diagram C3 tech performance th400 transmission cooler line routing 1970 454 kindly help. standard copper radiator fitted; does the top cooler line outlet on the transmission connect to the top of the radiator, and bottom outlet to bottom of radiator, as its not clear from the diagrams i have seen. Just as the heated coolant flows into the top of the radiator. after flowing through the transmission cooler towards the bottom of the radiator (where it is coolest) it returns to the th 400's top fitting (inlet). other chevy trans may flow differently. frankie. On the transmission (th400) the bottom line is out and the top line is the return. on the radiator the top is in and the bottom out. in other words the bottom transmission line runs to the top of the radiator. the top transmission line runs to the bottom of the radiator. Th400 cooler lines. cool, thanks for the info. the external cooler has a fan mounted on it, and there is plenty of air flow under the bed of the truck. the problem now is, i was just told that the radiator is not repairable, so now i gotta find someone who can custom build another one for me. :thumbup: reply like.
